Job Description
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Executive will share the day-to-day finance operations of the Group, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves assisting with month-end and year-end processes, VAT and payroll procedures, debtor management, and liaising with auditors and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and journal postings.
- Prepare up to management accounts, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and ECO contributions in accordance with Maltese regulatory requirements.
- Perform and review bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain oversight of petty cash records.
- Assist with payroll processes, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
- Manage and monitor accounts receivable, including debtor collections and maintaining effective communication with clients.
- Prepare and organise financial schedules and documentation required for external auditors.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies where required.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports, analysis, and management information as requested by the Financial Controller or senior management.
- Ensure compliance with Maltese accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal financial procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members where required.
- Collaborate with internal departments and liaise with external stakeholders as required.
- Support general day-to-day finance and operational duties.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting certifications such as ACCA, undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting or finance or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience in financial record-keeping and reporting.
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software, knowledge of Xero will be considered an asset.
